Morning Ps. 90, 149

Evening Ps. 80, 72

Isa. 4:2–6

1 Thess. 4:13-18

Luke 21:5–19

Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp.

          -Psalm 149:3

Because I have the privilege of teaching Children’s Sunday School at NPC, I get my joy, love, faith and hope vessel refilled every time the children and I are together.  There is no lesson I can teach them from our Presbyterian resources, nor the Bible, that is not made even more amazing by what they teach me:

•The essence of sheer joy.  Young Friends

•Being happy for no reason.

•Being happy for every reason.

•Skipping and jumping is good – anytime of day.

During Thanksgiving, when we were listing things we were thankful for, one of the children listed me.  I was dumbstruck and humbled and so honored.  More joy and love – what a gift.

Our salvation comes to us through a child, and we can dance and make music as we celebrate Christmas for the joy and promise that the birth of this little baby brings to humankind.

There is also another child coming into our life around December 22 – Shaw Miller, Bao’s little brother.  I have been sharing his picture with my family.  Oh, what fun we will have as we welcome this little boy into our Sunday School family – filled with love, laughter, stories, painting, playing – and the magnificent promises of that little baby born in a manger.

——

Prayer:

Most gracious, heavenly Father:  Thank you for your precious gifts:  the children in the Church, the children in my family, and other people’s children.  Thank you for the gift of your Child, the Holy One who promises us abundant faith and hope.  Amen
