get involved

There are lots of ways to get involved in ministry at Northminster. First, come to worship! Our Sunday morning services are the heart of our community. It is our time to ground ourselves in the faithfulness of God, to be meet the risen Christ, and to be renewed in the Holy Spirit.

Spiritual Formation is important to us. We offer a variety of Sunday morning opportunities, usually at 9:45, as well as weekday morning or evening cross candles 2studies held seasonally.

Mission to our local community is perhaps our highest priority. Girl Scouts have been meeting at our church for at least 30 years. In addition, we host 2 AA meetings, Lake Hills Neighborhood Association, and Bridge Refugee Services.

Family Promise is an ongoing mission of the church. Contributions and volunteers are always needed for this organization. We also offer support and supplies for teachers and staff at Lakeside Academy, our neighborhood elementary school. The Ministry of Mission regularly explores other opportunities for serving our neighbors.

Within the congregation, there are also opportunities for ministry. The Mow Squad, a group of volunteers who takes great care of our grounds, can always use extra support. Volunteer secretaries tend the office during the week. New Sunday School teachers for children and adults are always welcome, and the choir covets new voices, no matter how experienced you are. In addition, the responsibility for caring for our members is shared by our Pastoral Partners.  The worship team, which is responsible for creative and thoughtful worship services, needs all your artistic and dramatic talents.  For folks who love to be involved in visioning and planning, we have four ministry teams that coordinate much of the ministry here at Northminster:  Ministry of Worship and Education (pretty much everything that takes place inside the church: worship, education, music); Ministry of  Mission (pretty much everything that takes place or is directed outside of the church (outreach, mission, benevolences); Ministry of Care and Fellowship (pastoral care, fellowship opportunities, meals); and Ministry of Administration and Finance (stewardship, property, personnel, technology).  The teams meet quarterly during the Sunday School hour – new division members are always welcome to serve!

Contact our pastor, Laura, to find out how you might best use your gifts here at Northminster!

  1. I am trying to locate Rev. Rob Williamson and his wife Jean. Rob was a former pastor at Northminster. I have lost contact with them and wish to update them. My personal cell number is 423 227 0436. If you can provide an address or phone number for them I would deeply appreciate it. Thank you.
