We are a small, progressive, open and affirming congregation faithfully seeking to offer God’s love to others. We are young and old, black and white, male and female, gay and straight, and everything in between – We celebrate both our uniqueness as beloved children of God and our unity in Christ. We come from a variety of traditions, and worship in a variety of ways. Our diversity energizes our work and witness as we seek to be the body of Christ in the world today.
We hope that you might want to check us out! Here are a few questions that might be on your mind before your first visit:
Where are you? We are located at 4791 Hal Drive, Chattanooga, TN. We are just behind the CVS Pharmacy.
What time should I arrive? Worship begins at 11am.
What should I wear? We are a pretty casual church, but you will see a little bit of everything (though you will rarely see suits and ties here).
What is available for children? Beginning September 11, we offer a multi-age children’s Sunday School class at 9:30am. Children of all ages are welcome for the whole worship service. We have a Time for the Child in Us All when children are invited to up to hear a story before the Passing of the Peace*. We know some families may prefer to have younger children in the nursery though. During the Passing of the Peace, parents are welcome to take children Kindergarten age and younger to our nursery. Our nursery is staffed by two skilled, friendly child care providers.
Children’s activity bags are available near each of the entrances. We also have a small area in the back for older children who might prefer to sit back there and color during the service.
*What is the Passing of the Peace? Passing the Peace is a Christian practice that dates back to the early church, when worshipers would share the peace of Christ with each other as an act of hospitality and reconciliation. During the passing of the peace in our worship, many folks move throughout the sanctuary to offer handshakes, hugs, high-fives, etc. as an expression of that peace. Feel free to do so as well, or comfortably remain where you are for this part.
What happens after worship? We have a casual fellowship time after worship that is a great opportunity to chat more with us. We welcome and encourage you to join us for as long as you would wish to stay.
